L'historique de Gibou

La fondatrice, Sarah Beaudoin, a lancé l’entreprise en septembre 2014 puisqu’elle était réellement passionnée par le tricot et plus particulièrement par la fabrication de tuques. À l’hiver précédent, elle avait développé un modèle avec un pompon de chat sauvage fabriqué avec un ancien manteau de fourrure familial. Cette tuque, qui avait alors fait fureur dans son entourage, avait été tricotée au départ parce qu’elle ne réussissait pas à trouver en magasin un modèle de bonnet qui répondait à deux besoins essentiels pour elle : chaleur et beauté/look. Ainsi, ce premier modèle est devenu, six mois plus tard, le « modèle classique » de sa première collection. Dès le départ, les valeurs de l’entreprise ont été réfléchies en souhaitant respecter trois aspects primordiaux: la confection locale, l’utilisation de fourrure strictement recyclée et la valorisation de matière noble

The history of Gibou 

In 2014, Sarah Beaudoin, Founder and President, launched Gibou after getting praised for the original design she created in an effort to answer her need for a warm yet fashionable hat that could make the freezing Canadian winter days enjoyable. This style went on to become the “Classic” and is still at the core of the company’s offering with different colorways and various recycled fur pompom options. This enterprise also allowed Sarah to further explore her passion for knitting and share it with the Gibou community.

From the very beginning, it was adamant that everything we undertook would have to reflect the company’s values through three essential aspects: local manufacturing, the use of recycled fur exclusively and the upcycling of noble materials.
